londoneast-uk business and technical park has appointed Mark Bass as Site Leader.
Mark takes up his new position in November which sees him returning to Dagenham, east London, where under his former role with Sanofi he spearheaded the regeneration process of the former pharmaceutical manufacturing plant which led to the creation of londoneast-uk.
Mark (pictured right), who was previously Sanofi’s Land Development & Partnership Leader – Dagenham Site, has maintained his links with the area since leaving Sanofi and is currently President of Barking & Dagenham Chamber of Commerce.
He says: “I am really excited to be back in Dagenham to work at londoneast-uk, helping to fulfil the objective of creating a thriving business and technical park, bringing new businesses, technologies and employment to Barking & Dagenham. I have a wealth of knowledge based on my years at the site in the past and understand the potential of what can be achieved at this great location.”
Mark’s appointment follows the official opening of The Cube Research & Development building at londoneast-uk by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan earlier this month. The Cube will ultimately accommodate up to 15 science-related businesses employing more than 90 people with londoneast-uk helping to ensure all companies moving to The Cube can access a wide range of specialist technical support which the site can also provide.
The Cube is just one of a number of high-tech buildings and vacant land covering around 17 acres which was acquired from Sanofi to create the londoneast-uk park.
londoneast-uk Managing Director John Lewis (pictured left) says: “I am delighted Mark has decided to join the londoneast-uk team. As someone who played a key role in the regeneration programme on this site with Sanofi, Mark is keenly aware of the potential here. His knowledge and expertise will certainly be a big boost to our efforts to transform the site into a successful business and technical park which will bring much-needed skilled jobs into the Borough of Barking & Dagenham.”
Mark’s main focus will be to lead the Sales & Marketing process in conjunction with londoneast-uk Accommodation Services Manager Ian Williams and Site Engineer Roger Woodward. He will also work alongside the Sales & Marketing team at londoneast-uk’s sister site at the heath business and technical park in Runcorn, Cheshire. In addition to his sales & market role, Mark will also oversee health & safety and compliance, site IT and telephonic requirements and assist John Lewis in management of budgets, site investment and networking.
John Lewis added: “londoneast-uk has made giant strides over the past two years since we purchased these superb facilities from Sanofi, and Mark Bass will play a key role in driving forward our plans to maximise the enormous potential of the site and attract national and international businesses to locate here.”
