Peter is an inspiring leader and has been at the helm of SOG Ltd since its inception in 2000. It is largely his vision and enterprise that helped steer the company through challenging waters to become the hugely successful organisation it is today. He is responsible for the strategic development of the company and it was his recognition that retaining people with skills was just as important as securing buildings that gave SOG the winning formula for growth. Before leading the formation of SOG, Peter spent 35 years with the chemical giant ICI. He originally joined the firm as a chemical engineer working on the design and commissioning of vinyl chloride plants and later project managed the design and build of multi-million pound herbicide and chlorinated solvent plants in the UK and Far East. After a period in a business support group, he was made responsible for a research engineering team and later the management of three major ICI research locations in Cheshire, including The Heath. Now as the SOG managing director, he is leading the Fusion project to export the “Heath” regeneration model to other sites, creating more jobs and new business opportunities. His great passion is nurturing scientific invention to create new products and services and using innovation to reduce waste.
