SOG Group is one of the UK’s leading independent business and technical park owner-operators.

A privately-owned company, SOG has successfully run the award-winning Heath Business and Technical Park in Runcorn, Cheshire, for the past 15 years – transforming the once single-occupancy site into a thriving business and scientific centre, which is home to some of the world’s most innovative organisations.

SOG also own and operate Londoneast-uk, a sister site to The Heath situated in a prime location in Dagenham, East London.

SOG’s business model ‘Fusion’, which revolves around the regeneration of sites and retention of skills, has been hailed by Government and business leaders as a template for regeneration. SOG now offers consultancy services to advise how other large scientific or commercial sites, facing closure or downsizing, can be regenerated and reinvigorated.

SOG also offers an extensive Facilities Management service and has purchased both its Cheshire and London sites through private funding, and without any public-sector grant support.

A critical part of the SOG business model is that they offer far more than just space and simply being a property landlord.  Companies locating to an SOG-owned site can access a vast range of highly specialist support services.  These include bespoke laboratory design, modification, construction and technical assistance; scientific glassblowing; precision engineering; health and safety services and much more.

SOG’s highly successful DEAL WITH IT ® cultural and behavioural safety  programme has now reached over 100 organisations and 120,000 people across the globe. Results are impressive and companies have reported improved safety performance, reduced injury costs, higher staff morale and greater profitability.

SOG Ltd was formed in 2000 from ICI’s Site Operations Group – a division of the ICI chemical group which managed the company’s headquarters site at The Heath in Runcorn and other ICI scientific sites across northern England.

When ICI announced its intention to close The Heath, managers working within the SOG division formed a limited company and linked up with a Liverpool-based businessman John Lewis – now SOG’s Managing Director – to develop a business plan to purchase the 50 acre site from ICI.

In 2000, SOG became the owner and operator of The Heath and over the past 15 years has transformed The Heath from a single-occupancy site with an uncertain future into a thriving business and scientific centre for some of the world’s most innovative businesses.
